The UCSF Committee on the Status of Women is a multidisciplinary group of people; including faculty, staff, post-doctoral scholars, graduate students, residents and students; who are interested in advocating for, building awareness of and advising on women’s issues at UCSF. All advocates and allies are welcome to participate.
Mission & Charge
- Examine the issues regarding the status of women on this campus (excluding those involving wages, hours or working conditions)
- Analyze existing policies, procedures, and/or programs to ensure there is no preference or prejudice based on race or gender
- Serve as a coordinating body for any group or individuals concerned with the status of women at UCSF
- Recommend to the Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Outreach changes that will continue to afford equal and fair access to campus programs and activities for all

Women in Science
The Committee has highlighted projects, such as the Women in Science slideshow to promote Women’s history month and youth outreach programs.
Back-up Care & Resources
The committee has continuously supported and helped secure funding for programs in emergency child care, adult & elder care, and lactation rooms for all UCSF members.
Expanded Back-up Care Advantage Program (BUCA) for Faculty
The committee advocated for expanded BUCA resources for faculty as part of Faculty Childbearing and Childrearing Leave Assessment.
