Advocating for Women's Issues at UCSF

The UCSF Committee on the Status of Women is a diverse group of women; including faculty members, staff, post-doctoral scholars, graduate students, residents and students; who are interested in advocating for, building awareness of and advising on Women’s issues at UCSF.   

Mission & Charge

  • Examine the issues regarding the status of women on this campus (excluding those involving wages, hours or working conditions) 
  • Analyze existing policies, procedures, and/or programs that affect those issues 
  • Serve as a coordinating body for groups or individuals concerned with the status of women at UCSF 
  • Recommend to the Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Outreach changes that will continue to afford women equal and fair access to campus programs and activities 

Accomplishment Spotlights

Women in Science 

The Committee has highlighted projects, such as the Women in Science slideshow to promote Women’s history month and youth outreach programs. 

Back-up Care & Resources 

The committee has continuously supported and helped secure funding for programs in emergency child care, adult & elder care, and lactation rooms for all UCSF members. 

Expanded Back-up Care Advantage Program (BUCA) for Faculty 

The committee advocated for expanded BUCA resources for faculty as part of Faculty Childbearing and Childrearing Leave Assessment.
